Environmental Sensors integrates six monitoring functions—temperature, humidity, illumination, PM2.5, PM10, and noise—delivering measurement accuracies of ±0.3°C for temperature, ±3% RH for humidity, and ±1.5 dB for noise. Data for all parameters is output simultaneously via an RS485 interface. The device features an enclosure constructed from ASA engineering plastic, making it suitable for continuous, year-round outdoor use.
Environmental Sensors is a multi-parameter monitoring terminal that integrates six environmental parameters—air temperature, air humidity, illumination intensity, PM2.5, PM10, and noise—into a single unit, specifically designed for smart street lighting systems. Through a highly integrated structural design, the sensor consolidates six distinct detection modules into a single device; this eliminates the need for users to install multiple separate sensors, allowing for the simultaneous collection of various environmental data points. The sensor comes standard with an RS485 communication interface and outputs data using the MODBUS protocol; users may also opt for RS232, USB, or Ethernet interfaces based on their specific requirements, all of which support real-time data acquisition. The device enclosure is fabricated from ASA engineering plastic, offering exceptional resistance to UV radiation and corrosion, thereby ensuring long-term outdoor operation without issues such as discoloration, material aging, or performance degradation.
In terms of specific technical specifications, the Environmental Sensors features an air temperature measurement range of -40°C to 60°C with an accuracy of ±0.3°C, and is accompanied by a calibration certificate issued by the Beijing Meteorological Bureau. The air humidity measurement range spans 0 to 100% RH with an accuracy of ±3% RH. The illumination intensity measurement range covers 0 to 20 klx (20,000 LUX) with an accuracy of 5%. Both PM2.5 and PM10 measurement ranges extend from 0 to 1000 μg/m³ with an accuracy of ±10%. The noise measurement range is 30 to 120 dB with an accuracy of ±1.5 dB. The sensor's overall power consumption ranges from approximately 0.96 W to 1.28 W; it is equipped with a watchdog circuit and an automatic reset function to ensure the long-term stability and reliability of the system. Thanks to its highly integrated design, the sensor contains no internal moving parts—resulting in zero mechanical wear—and requires no maintenance or on-site calibration, thereby significantly reducing long-term operational and maintenance costs. In practical applications, this sensor is mounted directly onto streetlight poles; by leveraging the inherent advantage of streetlights' widespread distribution across urban roadways, it enables the formation of a dense environmental monitoring network. The sensor outputs six distinct parameters simultaneously via an RS485 interface, and subsequently, data can be transmitted in real-time to an urban management platform or cloud server using 4G, 5G, or LoRa wireless communication modules integrated within the streetlight pole. This integrated, maintenance-free design significantly enhances the efficiency of smart lighting systems in the realm of meteorological and environmental monitoring, making it suitable for a wide range of applications—including grid-based urban environmental monitoring, smart transportation, environmental monitoring in scenic areas, and air quality assessment in industrial parks.
