Introduction to ultrasonic wind speed and direction recorders

The principle of the ultrasonic wind speed and direction recorder is to use the ultrasonic time difference method to achieve wind speed measurement. The speed of sound propagation is superimposed on the speed of airflow in the direction of the wind. If the ultrasonic wave propagates in the same direction as the wind, its propagation speed will increase; otherwise, the speed will slow down. Therefore, when the detection conditions are certain, the propagation speed of ultrasound can correspond to the wind speed function. The calculation can obtain the accurate wind speed, wind direction. As the sound wave propagates in the air, its speed is greatly influenced by temperature; the anemometer detects two opposite directions in two channels, thus the influence of temperature on the speed of the sound wave can be ignored.

The ultrasonic wind speed and direction recorder is lightweight, has no moving parts, is robust and requires no maintenance or on-site calibration, and can achieve simultaneous wind speed and direction output. The customer can select the wind speed unit, output frequency and output format as required. The heating unit or analogue output can also be selected as required. It can be used in conjunction with computers, data collectors and other collection devices with RS485 output or analogue output. Several units can also be used in a network if required. Because of its ability to overcome the inherent shortcomings of mechanical anemometers, it can be used for all-weather, long-time normal operation and is increasingly used. It will become a powerful alternative to mechanical anemometers.
