Soil moisture monitoring stations are vital to agricultural cultivation, directly affecting the growth and ultimate yield of crops. Such monitoring stations can comprehensively and scientifically monitor small changes in soil moisture and ensure that the data provided are true and reliable. The data provides a timely understanding of the soil moisture condition at each monitoring point, which provides critical basic information for disaster mitigation, drought relief and yield improvement in agricultural production.
The heart of a monitoring station lies in its sensor technology. These sensors are usually based on the capacitive or frequency domain reflection principle to measure the moisture content in the soil. Capacitive sensors infer moisture levels by monitoring changes in the soil's dielectric constant, while frequency-domain reflectance sensors determine moisture content by sending high-frequency electromagnetic waves and analysing their reflected signals.
The data acquisition process involves converting the analogue moisture signals detected by the sensors into digital signals, a step performed by an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). These digital signals are then further processed and analysed by a microprocessor to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data.
In order to ensure that the monitoring station can operate stably in various environments, the power supply system is designed using solar panels combined with batteries. This design is not only environmentally friendly, but also provides continuous power support to ensure the normal operation of the monitoring station even when there is no external power supply. Such a power supply solution greatly improves the practicality and flexibility of the monitoring station, making it an indispensable tool in agricultural production.
The station is equipped with state-of-the-art wireless transmission technology, which enables instant transmission of soil moisture measurements to a remote server or mobile application. This feature allows users to conveniently access soil moisture information from a computer or smartphone, regardless of location, for efficient remote monitoring and management.
Increasing the frequency of soil moisture monitoring during extreme weather conditions, such as droughts or rainy seasons, is critical for rapid response to climate change. Farmers can use soil moisture content monitoring stations to continuously track changes in soil moisture and look at long-term trends in soil moisture through historical data.
With these data, farmers are able to recognise seasonal patterns in soil moisture and predict possible droughts and floods accordingly. Such monitoring and analyses help farmers make more rational irrigation and drainage decisions to protect crops from weather extremes.

Meteorological environmental monitoring system refers to a series of monitoring equipment and instruments to carry out real-time, accurate and sustainable monitoring and analysis of the atmosphere, water, soil, vegetation, animals and other elements of the natural environment, in order to reveal the...
Literally, it refers to the physical state of the road surface. For example, whether there is water accumulation, snow, ice, or moisture on the road? What are the road surface temperature and humidity? These factors constitute the road surface conditions, which are often crucial to travel safety. Fo...

Winter wheat and summer corn have their own requirements for soil moisture conditions. For winter wheat, a soil relative water content of 70% - 75% is ideal for sowing, which facilitates seed-soil contact and germination. Too dry or too wet conditions can affect germination and seedling growth. Duri...
